Longtime Red Bank resident, Rosanna Vescio, passed on Oct. 26, at The Atrium at Navesink Harbor in Red Bank. She was 85.
Rosanna was born in Pantanella, Calabria Italy to Ernesto Vescio and Tomasina Mazzei.
“As a young girl she lost her mom and then spent many years with the Valente family. She then married Piero Gregorio Vescio and had three children. Rosanna and Piero wanted a better life for their children, so they made the difficult decision leave everything behind and to immigrate to the United States. It was not easy to come to America but they succeeded with the help of family, Antonio and Margaret Vescio and the Turner family, from Red Bank, in 1974.

“They then purchased their own home in Red Bank and lived there for 42 years. They went to night school and learned the English language and Rosanna got her first job as a seamstress in Long Branch. “Rosanna loved to cook, garden and spend time with her family. She also loved flowers and little piglets. But, most of all she enjoyed having the family together as often as possible. The grandchildren would say they have many cherished memories of their Nonna!
