In Memoriam: Fair Haven Resident, Michele Loughran, 58

Michele Loughran

Fair Haven resident, “beloved wife, mother, sister, and cherished friend,” Michele Loughran, passed away on Friday surrounded by her family. She was 58.

Michele brought beauty, grace, and love into the lives of all who knew her.

Michele proudly served the United States Department of Justice for nearly 32 years, offering dedication, expertise, and unwavering professionalism. She celebrated her well-earned retirement in December of 2023.

“A devoted mother, she raised her children Emma and Sean Loughran with deep affection, encouragement, and pride … She was also a steadfast and loving advocate for her husband Dan, providing strength and care throughout their 33 years of marriage. She was an avid admirer of Hercule Poirot and mysteries of all kinds; a fan of horror, sci-fi and fantasy movies; a devoted gardener with a special love for orchids, and an accomplished puzzle-solver who proudly maintained an extraordinary 1,538-day streak of completed New York Times crossword puzzles right up to the day of her passing. She loved to dance and sing, to laugh and make those around her laugh too, and to embrace each day with joy. In the kitchen she was constantly learning, exploring new techniques and preparing healthy, delicious meals for her family, and her fondness for travel brought her to many different sites for cultural and communal celebration. Remembered as a kind and gentle soul, Michele blessed the lives of all she encountered.

“Her warmth, compassion, and quiet strength will be dearly missed …
Michele’s many passions reflected her vibrant and curious spirit.”
