An area teen has been charged with attempted murder and related weapons charges stemming from the Thursday shooting incident in Freehold Borough, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Tuesday.
Kanye P. Faucette, 19, of Keansburgh, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the shooting.
The case background …
On Thursday, April 30, at 4:21 p.m., Freehold Borough police responded to the area of the Freehold Borough Public Library at 28 East Main Street on a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition.
An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Freehold Borough Police Department identified Faucette as the person responsible for the shooting.
The investigation further resulted in Heaven D. Holmes, 20, of Keyport, being charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Faucette was found and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Both Faucette and Holmes are being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) pending future court proceedings.
