A fatal accident on early Thursday morning that claimed the life of a young female pedestrian is under is under investigation, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Friday.

On March 5 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Neptune Township police responded to the area of Route 35 and West Lake Avenue for a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a male driver was operating a 2013 Honda Accord travelling south on Route 35 when he hit a woman in the roadway.
The pedestrian, later identified as Amani E. Turner, 24, of Neptune Township, was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m.
The driver of the Honda Accord remained on scene.
No charges or summonses have been issued with regard to the incident at this time.
An investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Neptune Township Police Department remains active.
