In Memoriam: Longtime Rumsonite, Cliff Anderson, 92

Longtime Rumsonite, Clifford D. Anderson, also of Bay Head, passed away peacefully at The Atrium, a retirement community in Red Bank. He was 92.

“Cliff’s long standing memberships in the Rumson Country Club, Seabright Beach Club and Bay Head Yacht Club enabled him and Bebe to enjoy many lasting friendships. He was also a member of Tower Hill Presbyterian Church, Red Bank for 62 years. He was married to his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara (Bebe) until her untimely death in 2017. He and Bebe traveled extensively throughout their marriage. It was one of his greatest treasures in life and felt these travels were the education of a lifetime.
Cliff will be remembered as a dedicated father,
husband and world traveler.”

Cliff was born in Cleveland, OH, the oldest son of Clifford O. and Myrtle S. Anderson.

Cliff grew up in Glen Ridge. He graduated from Glen Ridge High School and went on to study at Amherst College, graduating in 1952.

After serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, Cliff had a 30-year career with the J.C. Penney Company at their then headquarters in New York City, rising to the position of vice-president and personal assistant to Mr. James C. Penney.

Cliff was predeceased by his brother, Richard.

He is survived b:y his two loving children, Geoffrey, of Pittsburgh, PA and Mark of Evans, of GA; his five grandchildren, “in whom he took great pride and pleasure,” David, Bennett, Timothy, Sarah and Victoria; and two great-grandchildren, Violet and Calvin.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the Tower Hill First Presbyterian Church, 255 Harding Rd., Red Bank. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Tower Hill Presbyterian Church, Attn: Red Bank Local Mission.
