In Memoriam: Longtime Little Silver Resident, Jean Carroll, 84

Longtime Little Silver residents, Eugenia “Jean” Carroll, formerly of Oak Hill, passed away on Saturday, May 6, at Riverview Medical Center. She was 84.

Born in Newark to Gustave and Elizabeth (Weckaman) Mayer, Jean was a graduate of Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington and then attended secretarial school.  

“Jean was a longtime communicant of St. James RC Church in Red Bank and a former communicant of St. Catharine’s RC Church in Holmdel and St. Leo’s RC Church in Lincroft.
She enjoyed playing tennis at Shrewsbury Tennis Club and spending time with family and friends at Ship Ahoy Beach Club, where she was a member for over 50 years.”

Jean was predeceased by her parents; and, in 2015, by her beloved husband of 56 years, James A. Carroll. 

Jean is survived by: her loving children, James Jr., of Little Silver, Kevin, of Marco Island, FL, Linda Roche and husband James, of Richmond, VA and Karen Malone, of Middletown; her sisters, Patricia Stanzione and husband Philip, of Toms River, and Kathleen Carroll and husband Thomas, of Lake Como; sister-in-law, Helen Lane, of Tinton Falls; grandchildren: Phillip, Nicole, Joshua, Alicia, Tanner, Morgan, Troy and Ian; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Catherine, Deegan, August, Marlee, Timothy, Leo and Hendrix; and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, May 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the John E. Day, Funeral Home, Red Bank. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at St. James RC Church in Red Bank. Interment will be private. 

Memorial donations may be made in Jean’s memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, 370 Seventh Ave., 3rd Floor, Room 320, NY, NY 10001.
