In Memoriam: Longtime Little Silver Resident & Former RCDS Board President, Charles Hill Jones Jr., 89

Longtime Little Silver resident and former Rumson Country Day School (RCDS) Board of Trustees president, Charles Hill Jones Jr., also of Palm Beach, FL, died on Sept. 28. He was 89.

In addition to having served as board president of RCDS, Charles was a former chairman of the Finance Committee of Monmouth Medical Center, trustee of Hampden-Sydney College, honorary president of Delta Kappa Epsilon and on the Deke Foundation Board of Directors and former secretary of the Sea Bright Lawn, Tennis & Cricket Club. He was also the recent recipient of the David Carr Memorial Legacy Award from the Eta Chapter of DKE at UVA. This past March, was deeply honored to be the Grand Marshall of the Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

During a career in financial services, he was Director of Research at Wood, Struthers & Winthrop, Chief Investment Officer at Midlantic National Bank, Chairman & President of NJ Title Insurance, and President of Edge Partners. Ltd. He was a member of the CFA Institute and a recipient of the Marquis Who’s Who Honors: Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is survived by: his wife, Hope (Haskell); and his children, Hope H., of Edgartown, MA, Charles H. III (Shea), of Rumson, and Henry M. T. (Parker), of Atlanta, GA.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Funeral services will be held at St. George’s-By-The River Church in Rumson at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Palm Beach.
