Former longtime Rumsonite Antoinette Jean Pomphrey, affectionately known as Toni, more recently of Shrewsbury Township, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, Nov. 6. She was 85.
Born June 10, 1940 in Long Branch to Frank and Mary Puglisi, Toni went on to graduate from Red Bank Regional High School and have an incredibly successful career as a 27-year member of Union local 464A with Foodtown.

“Toni also worked at local favorite spots Campus Luncheonette in Rumson and Donovan’s Reef in Sea Bright. She was a strong leader, serving as past president of the Oceanic Ladies Auxiliary and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Her favorite hobbies included bowling, bingo, crocheting, reading, traveling to Atlantic City with her family, and she was also a beloved member of the Rumson Presbyterian Church.”

Toni is predeceased by: her parents, Frank (1974) and Mary (1992) Puglisi; her beloved husband, Robert H. Pomphrey (Potts) (1993); her dear son, Harry Pomphrey (2019); and her siblings, Marie Mullenax, Josephine Felder, John Puglisi, Ralph “Buddy” Puglisi, and Gloria Collier.
She is survived by: her children, Susan Volek, Robert Pomphrey and wife Kelli, Dawn Pomphrey, and Joseph Pomphrey and wife Kelly; her grandchildren, Timothy McGrath, Morgan Jennings, Amanda Volek, Bobby Pomphrey, Joseph Obenauer, Kayla Pomphrey, Justin Obenauer, Cami Pomphrey, Jayson Pomphrey, Steven Pomphrey, Reilly Pomphrey, Gannon Pomphrey, and Gracie Pomphrey; her great-grandchildren, Madison, Alex, Adrian, Ellie, Garrett, and Wren; her sisters, Patsy Casalino and husband Tony, and Joanne Pavao; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
