Former longtime Fair Haven resident, Maureen Perkins, more recently a 40-year Tinton Falls resident, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on March 7. She was 84.
“Maureen was known to be a strong-willed woman with strong convictions. She was very outgoing enjoying social occasions, bowling and horse racing events with her many longtime friends. Maureen was an avid bowler wherein she received awards, loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

“During her retirement, she became PT Cruiser enthusiast where she joined a PT Cruiser club and participated in local car shows.
“She enjoyed traveling and learning the various cultures and loved to hit the dance floor with some good music.”
Maureen was born in Neptune to the late James B. and Grace B. (Brown) Cabaniss.
She was a well-regarded and respected (GS13) civilian logistics management specialist at Fort Monmouth, retiring in 2002 being honored at the time by the Honorable Frank Pallone Jr..
Maureen leaves her family to carry on her legacy: her devoted and loving husband of 56 years, Frank Perkins; sons, Samuel E. “Skip” Hawkins, of Tinton Falls, and Tracy (Mary) Perkins, of Barnegat; her beloved grandchildren, Tyler Hawkins, Victoria Dellanno and Traciana Perkins; and several nieces and nephews.
