Summer is almost officially over. And with the end of summer comes two Monmouth County DWI checkpoints for Labor Day weekend.
“Labor Day weekend is historically one of the busiest weekends of the year, and unfortunately, one of those weekends where officers encounter a greater number of impaired drivers,” Allenhurst Police Department Chief and Monmouth County DWI Task Force Coordinator Michael Schneider announced. “The Task Force is reminding all motorists to please make good decisions over this holiday weekend. Some poor decisions have life-altering consequences. Our officers enjoy meeting with the public, but we would rather have those meetings in a setting
other than during a DWI checkpoint.”
The DWI checkpoint details …
On Friday, Sept. 1, in Freehold Township …
Starting at 10 p.m. and running through 2 a.m. on Saturday, all vehicles traveling north on Route 9 will be diverted into Juniper Business Plaza, near the intersection of Three Brooks Road, where DWI Task Force members and local police will screen for sobriety.
On Saturday, Sept. 2, in Holmdel …
From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday, all vehicles headed south on Route 35 will be diverted into the Dearborn Market parking lot, near Centerville Road, where DWI Task Force members and Holmdel police will screen for sobriety.
