An as-of-yet unidentified man has died after being pulled, unconscious, from the ocean at the unguarded Gunnison Beach, also known as the nude beach, on Sandy Hook, National Park Service’s spokesperson Daphne Yun said.
The man was unresponsive when pulled out of the surf by beachgoers at about noon today, Saturday, she added. It was not yet clear whether or not the man had drowned or what had caused his unconscious state, she said.
He was administered CPR and transported to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. There, he was pronounced dead.
The man’s age and identity have not been disclosed pending family notification.
This is a breaking story. It will be updated when more information becomes available.
