Dubbed Vision 2020 Strategic Plan, a $15.6 million referendum for improvements to Knollwood and Viola L. Sickles schools in Fair Haven is showing some wind-up finishing touches.
The schools’ administration showed all via social media, while giving the summer update on the plan’s fruition.
Here’s what was said …
“Some exciting projects happening at Sickles and Knollwood this summer!

“These are some of the final touches from our referendum project. We are excited to create some outdoor class spaces at Sickles as well as larger landing areas for our children and families as they drop off and pickup each day, better and safer bike parking, and some fun sensory garden pathways featuring native species.
“At Sportsman’s (field) at Knollwood, we are excited to create a much improved and safer area for bike parking and bike exit and entry, as well as increased and safer walkways around the drop off circle and parking areas, and a safer separation of children’s play areas from the parking lot by way of fencing and the installation of functional rain gardens to create a buffer from the 4 square and Gaga pit area and the parking lot.
“If you attended any of our town halls this last year, these are the projects we mentioned during those meetings. These projects are all funded by dollars that can only be used for site work improvements via the referendum and are not funds that can be used for annual operating costs associated with teaching and learning. We look forward to sharing updates as the projects progress throughout the summer!”
