Prosecutor: Police Seek Witnesses to Fatal Crash

Police are seeking help in the investigation of a fatal two-car accident that occurred on Sunday evening, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on Tuesday.

The Freehold Township collision that left two dead occurred around 6:48 p.m. between a 2012 Honda Ridgeline and 2005 Dodge Caravan in the eastbound lane of County Route 537 near the intersection of Wemrock Road.

The Dodge Caravan was stopped at a red light in the right lane of Route 537 near Wemrock Road, when the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, driven by a 19-year old Freehold Township man, collided into the rear of the minivan. Both vehicles sustained a significant amount of damage.

Two passengers inside the Caravan died as a result of their injuries sustained in the crash:

• Dolores Guglielmelli, 87, of Cliffside Park, a left center seat passenger in the Caravan, was taken to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township following the collision where she was pronounced dead at 7:49 p.m.;

• Father Michael Guglielmelli, 81, of Cliffside Park, a right center seat passenger, was also transported to CentraState Medical Center where he died at 10:51 p.m.

Two additional passengers inside the Caravan suffered injuries and were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, (JSUMC), Neptune, where they remain hospitalized. The driver of the Caravan, a 55-year old North Brunswick man, was also taken to JSUMC where he was treated and released.

The driver and sole occupant of the Honda pickup truck sustained a minor arm injury in the crash. He was treated and released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team, and Freehold Township Police Department.
