It’s spring training season for professional baseball. Then there are the amateurs — the RFH amateurs of yesteryear and their special training for a good casual ballgame. Call it their own brand of field day.

Back in the ol’ 70s day there was never enough spring training for RFHers with their own type of playing the field, much less methods of training for pure fun blended with a bit of fiasco.  For one, the ball seems to be missing from the ballgame.

Yeah, they’re having a field day. An RFH field day. This field day has its players playing their very own game of catch, tackle and (what looks like) tickle — each other. Must be. Everyone’s laughing. No casualties. Just a missing ball, a tackle, a giggle or three, a karate chop move (Wait. What?) and a memory of the finest kind.

Four RFH guys and a girl playing the field for fun. Nothing better.

Now, guess what they’re laughing about. And karate baseball guy, Kevin Reed, who is sadly no longer with us, is clearly summoning something there. What’s your guess? Perhaps he is reprising his Diana Ross role in that Supremes skit that made him famous in the RFH Freshmen Follies of ’75? Hmmmm … Mic drop? Your idea of spring training?

Many thanks, again, to George Day for this and so many other RFH gems!
