In Memoriam: RFH Class of ’73 Grad, Barry Meeks, 67

As the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Class of 1973 prepares for its 50th reunion, a classmate is being mourned.

Barry Christopher Meeks, of Kilmarnock, VA, died Feb. 27 in Richmond of complications due to pancreatic cancer.

“Barry was a spiritual man, a considerable world traveler, prolific reader and had a famously keen mathematical mind. An avid sailer and golfer, he was a member of Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and
all who knew him.”

Born in Great Neck, NY on Aug. 16, 1955 to William and Catherine, Barry earned a bachelor of science degree from Ursinus College and master’s from Rutgers University.

On Sept. 29, 1984 he married, Joan Culshaw, an RFH student as well. On April 2, 1987 and Oct. 30, 1989 respectively, the couple welcomed their two children.

Barry worked in finance and business insurance for such companies as Ingersoll Rand, American Commerical Lines and American Bureau of Shipping, before retiring from his position with Cathexis in Houston, Texas in July 2022.

He is predeceased by his parents, William Furman Meeks and Catherine Durkin Meeks; and his sisters, Laura and Maurita.

Barry is survived by: his wife, Joan Culshaw Meeks; and his children, Sayre Fox and Todd Hardy Meeks.

Private memorial services will be held at a to-be-determined date in West Chester County, NY, where Barry will join the Meeks family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, P.O. Box 975, White Stone, VA 22578.
