In Memoriam: Red Bank Native, Middletown-Raised RBC Grad, Laurie McGowan Robinson, 68

Red Bank native, Middletown-raised Laurie Joan McGowan Robinson passed away peacefully on Sept. 6 in Red Bank. She was 68.

Born on Aug. 30, 1958 in Red Bank to Thomas and Carol (Stout) McGowan, Laurie grew up in Middletown and attended St. James Elementary School and was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School.

She spent her business career as an administrative assistant at Heublein, Business Edge, EMC, and Dell Technologies, retiring in 2025.

“Laurie cherished the friendships and relationships that she built throughout her life; she remained close with many of her Red Bank Catholic classmates, frequently meeting them for lunches and dinners, while also staying close with her colleague friends after her retirement.

“A loving mother and grandmother, Laurie’s first love was always her family, but she was also a huge fan of Bruce Springsteen, Eli Manning, and the New York Yankees.

“She also found great peace and sanctuary at the beach, especially the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Laurie’s happiest days were spent at the beach with a good book and a glass of wine.”

Laurie is survived by: her devoted husband, William; her cherished siblings, Thomas (Susan), Robert (Sue), and Maureen (Robert); her loving step-children, Elizabeth Banach (Jaryd) and Timothy Robinson (Mallory); her caring aunt and uncle, Linda Mautner and Robert (Maureen); and her nieces and nephews, Robert, Michael, Matthew and Carly.

“Last, but not at all least, Laurie is survived by the loves of her life, her grandchildren – Grace, Reese, Genevieve, and Quinn who all cherished their Lala. ‘We love you so much and will miss you forever.'”

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. George’s by the River Episcopal Church, 7 Lincoln Ave., Rumson, NJ 07760.
