The early Saturday morning death of Middletown High School South student and soccer player, Michale DeOliviera prompted his family to reach out via his obituary asking for people to start a chain reaction of getting help for those who suffer with depression.
Michael’s obituary, as prepared by family via John E. Day Funeral Home …
Our beloved son, Michael Riley DeOliveira, 15, of Middletown, lost his battle with depression and passed away early December 4th, 2021.
Michael was a sophomore at Middletown South and a long-time soccer player for Middletown Attack, acting as their goalkeeper and captain. He was an excellent player looking to play for college and beyond. He was a remarkable athlete and true leader on and off the field.
Michael is survived by his grieving parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousin, extended family, and a multitude of friends and teammates. He is preceded by his grandmother with whom he was very close, and who is undoubtedly there to embrace him in heaven.
The grief of losing him is as endless and boundless as our love for him. May he rest now in the sweetest peace.
