In Memoriam: Longtime Shrewsbury Resident, Christina Van Pelt, 92

Longtime Shrewsbury resident, Christina Van Pelt, passed away on May 15. She was 92.

“Christina enjoyed tending to her garden. She and Lester enjoyed traveling back to England where they spent time with extended family and visiting the countryside … While residing in Shrewsbury she was a dedicated housewife and became a member of the Daughters of the British Empire.”

She was born on Dec. 25, 1932 in Marple, England to the late Herbert and Elizabeth Beale. While in England she worked at the Bredbury Stealworks until she met her future husband, Lester.

In 1954 she moved to the states where she and Lester married in April of 1954. During their 71 years together they settled in Shrewsbury, where they raised their children, Linda and Paul.

Christina was predeceased by: her husband, Lester; her parents, Herbert and Elizabeth Beale; her sister, Dorothy Roman; and her daughter, Linda Cook.

She is survived by: her son, Paul, and wife Connie Melissa, of Farmingdale; grandsons, Douglas and Andrew Cook, of Henrico VA; and extended family members.
