In Memoriam: Longtime Shrewsbury & Little Silver Resident, Paul Kimmins, 77

Longtime Shrewsbury and Little Silver resident, Paul J. Kimmins, passed away on April 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was 77.

Born in Atlantic City and raided in Pennsylvania and California, Paul ended up returning to New Jersey where he settled in Little Silver and Shrewsbury over the last 28 years.

“Paul was a devoted husband and father. While completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Temple University, Paul enrolled in ROTC training. He served active duty in the Army from 1968-1970 and as a reservist from 1970 until 1980, attaining the rank of Major. After his active duty in the Army, Paul returned to Temple University and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1973 and a Master of Business Administration in Finance in 1982.”

Paul had a long career in the accounting/finance field. He started out working as a CPA for the firm of Ernst and Young, LLP and later worked as a Vice President of Finance for CIGNA Corporation. 

He also served as chief financial officer for MetLife Healthcare Network of California, Care America Health Plans, and First Option Health Plans, all Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). Paul worked for Tatum CFO Partners for seven years and finally served as CFO for QBE, The Americas for two years before retiring in 2008.

He is survived by: his wife, Rochelle Carzo Kimmins; two sons, Shane and Brett Kimmins; his sisters, Eileen Garrison, of Oviedo, FL, and Pamela Carroll of Cocoa Beach, FL; and his brother, Brendan Kimmins, of Egg Harbor Township.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a service at 7:30, at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
