In Memoriam: Longtime Little Silver & Shrewsbury Resident, Stephy’s Place Counselor, Marion Fitzgerald, 83

Longtime Little Silver and Shrewsbury resident, Marion Mylod Fitzgerald, passed away at home on April 18, surrounded by her children. She was 83.

Living in the two Monmouth County towns for more than 50 years, Marion was a grief counselor at Stephy’s Place in Red Bank and a New Life Support Leader for September 11th families. Marion was also a spiritual director at the Upper Room in Neptune, and the Church of St. Anselm in Wayside.  

A parishioner of The Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, the Brooklyn, NY native was a member of Saint Saviour’s Parish. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle.

Marion is survived by: her children, in-laws and grandchildren, Anthony Jr., (Susan) and Anthony III and Catherine Fitzgerald of Millburn; John (Mary) and Shannon, Lindsay (Dr. Bryce Ingram,  fiancé ) and Bridget Fitzgerald of New York City; Brian, (Megan) and Grace (Michael Krupnik), Clare and Emma Fitzgerald of Little Silver; Michael, (Kara) and Simon, Fiona and Bridie Fitzgerald of Shrewsbury; Mark (Susanne) and Garrett and Owen Fitzgerald of Middletown; Marion Margaret Fitzgerald Richardson (Peter Richardson) and Lillian and Declan Richardson of Middletown.  

Marion was the 3rd of the 9 glorious children of Charles and Katherine Mylod.  She was devoted to Anthony “Fitzie” (deceased), her husband and partner in life for over 50 years, her 6 children, and her 15 grandchildren.  

A Mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 22, at the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only family and close friends have been invited to attend the services. There will be a livestream of the mass at 10:30 a.m.  at www.nativitychurchnj.org

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Upper Room Spiritual Center, 3455 W. Bangs Avenue, Building #2, Neptune, NJ 07753. 
The Upper Room is a spiritual and educational center rooted in a contemplative and holistic approach that supports and nourishes the spiritual growth of laity, religious, and clergy.  Sponsored by the Diocese of Trenton, the Upper Room serves women and men within and outside the diocese through on-site and outreach programs.
