Longtime Little Silver and Shrewsbury resident and Rumson High School graduate, Virginia “Ginny” Toscano, passed away peacefully on Jan. 28. She was 96.

Born on Dec. 25, 1929 to John and Mildred Bailey at Riverview Hospital, Ginny lived her entire life in Little Silver and Shrewsbury. A then Rumson High School (now RFH) graduate, Ginny worked for New Jersey Telephone Company and First Merchants Bank in Red Bank.
“Once married, she was a devoted home maker … Ginny was a member of Deal Golf & Country Club and Pawleys Plantation in South Carolina where she wintered and played golf. She is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Red Bank. Her happiest times were being with her family, walking one of her little dogs and feeding the local stray cats.”

Ginny was predeceased by her parents, loving husband Michael Toscano, her son Richard L. Schneider Sr. and her grandson RJ Schneider. She is survived by her two children Michele M. Strahl and her husband Andrew, Michael J. Toscano and wife Debbie. Four grandchildren, Jackie Attanasio, Jason Smith and his wife Chelsea, Angela Toscano and Sean Toscano. Four great grandchildren Daniel, Allie, Anthony and Jack.
There will be a memorial gathering on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a prayer service at 11:30, at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave.. Red Bank. Interment will follow at the Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.
The family asks that contributions be made to the SPCA, Wall Street, West Long Branch, the Heart Fund, in remembrance of her son Richie, or the charity of your choice.
