In Memoriam: Little Silver Resident & Former Rumson Schools Teacher, Ruth Burgener, 87

Little Silver resident Ruth F. Burgener passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 10, her family by her side. She was 87.

Born in Trenton to the late John and Ruth Franklin, Ruth had a successful and proud career as a teacher in the Trenton and Rumson school systems.

“She enjoyed decorating cakes for all occasions, cross stitching and puzzles. Ruth admired all species of birds and light houses, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.”

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald J. Burgener (2019).

Ruth is survived by: her three children, Donald J. Burgener, Jr. and his wife Yolanda, Margaret Burgener, and Katherine Halwood and her husband James; and five grandchildren, Phillip, Hannah, Joseph, John and Elizabeth.

There will be a funeral mass on Friday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Little Silver. The interment will immediately follow at the Ewing Cemetery in Ewing Township.
