In Memoriam: Lifetime Red Bank Resident, Fred Buonanno Jr., 94

Lifetime Red Bank resident, Federico “Fred” F. Buonanno Jr., passed away on Dec. 27, 2025, in Shrewsbury. He was 94.

Born in Long Branch, Fred lived his entire life in Red Bank, with the exception of his final 18 months, when he lived at Sunrise at Shrewsbury. 

“Fred prioritized family, friends who became family, and always took care of those he loved. He was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him …

“He was a deeply religious man and a lifelong communicant of The Oratory Church of Saint Anthony of Padua. Affectionately known as ‘Cousin Fred’ by family and relatives, he attended Seton Hall University and Rutgers School of Pharmacy.

“Following graduation, Fred proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a licensed pharmacist in the State of New Jersey and worked at numerous pharmacies, including Katsin’s Pharmacy in Red Bank and the State Home for Boys Jamesburg.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 124 Chestnut St, Red Bank.  Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
