In Memoriam: Former Rumsonite, Celine Mason, 92

Former Longtime Rumsonite, Celine Mason, of Little Silver, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 24. She was 92.

A native of Jersey City, Celine graduated from St. Aloysius in 1948.

“She was a wife, mother and homemaker who volunteered her time with multiple local organizations including Holy Cross Church in Rumson, Newcomers Club, and was recognized for more than 30 years of service to Birthrite of Monmouth County. She was a lifetime member of the Shrewsbury River Yacht Club in Fair Haven, and an avid bridge player … She was loved by all.”

Celine is predeceased by: her loving husband, Patrick; and her sister, Rosemarie Ritchie.

She survived by: her three children, Patrick Mason Jr., Joseph Mason, Marie O’Hara; eight grandchildren, Patrick Mason III, William O’Hara Jr., John O’Hara, Daniel O’Hara, Elizabeth O’Hara, Brianna Mason, Celine Mason, and Katie Mason; three great grandchildren; more than 40 nieces and nephews; and her sisters, Patricia Verdon and Maryanne Mullen.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Rumson, on Friday, June 3 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Covenanthousenj.org.
