Sun Set to Shine on a September Oktoberfest in Fair Haven

Fair Haven’s new Oktoberfest tradition continues in September. This Saturday, in fact.

Weather, for a few years in a row, had staved off the initially adults-only event — pushing it to November at one point. There was rain and there was too much of a chill in the air when it was a true October or November happening. So, a switch was made to ensure a more climate- and kid-friendly time with some additions and a change of venue.

Now, as Hurricane Florence’s effects put a damper on the weekend for many along the east coast, the National Weather Service says the sun will shine on Fair Haven on Saturday. So, Fair Haven’s Oktoberfest  prevails.

The event, sponsored by the non-profit Foundation of Fair Haven, hosting many food trucks, treats, craft and clothing vendors, games, beer and wine (featuring a new craft beer garden), and bands (Box Car, 10-String and Jukebox Criminals), will kick off at 4 p.m. in the Fair Haven Fields parking lot.

Oktoberfest also features various sponsorships, the proceeds of which go primarily toward future Fair Haven Days, which were borne out of the borough’s centennial celebration.
