Prosecutor: Pedestrian Dies as Result of Accident

A 53-year-old Monmouth County man has died from injuries sustained from being struck by a motor vehicle along Route 9 in Howell early Saturday morning, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.

The pedestrian, a Freehold man, was crossing the intersection between Route 9 and New Friendship Road at approximately 12:36 a.m. on Saturday when he was hit in the southbound right lane by a 2010 Mini Cooper driven by Juanean Perez, 21, of Jackson. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:08 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Howell Police Department.
