Prosecutor: Former Teacher Gets 12 Years for Aggravated Sexual Assault of Student

A former teacher has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison for the aggravated sexual assault of a teenage student, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Monday.

“We place such an immense degree of faith on our educators to always act in the best interests of their students, and it is difficult to conceive of a violation of that faith any more egregious than this,” Prosecutor Santiago said. “One of the most foundational and fundamental components of our service to the public is consistently ensuring that sexual predators of children are held fully accountable for their crimes.”

During a hearing held Friday before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Jill G. O’Malley, 45-year-old Allison Havemann-Niedrach, of Jackson, a former teacher at Freehold Intermediate School, was also ordered to serve a minimum of 85 percent of the term before the possibility of parole, in accordance with New Jersey’s No Early Release Act (NERA).

An investigation involving members of the MCPO Special Victims Bureau and the Freehold Borough Police Department revealed that the criminal conduct by Havemann-Niedrach began in January 2024 and continued for approximately six months prior to her arrest in June of the same year. The conduct involved near-constant contact with her victim via many thousands of text messages. A Monmouth County Grand Jury returned an indictment in the case in March 2025.

In January 2026, Havemann-Niedrach pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree aggravated sexual assault. Her sentence also included permanent forfeiture of public office, surrender of her teacher’s license, Parole supervision for life, and registration as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
