Prosecutor: 28-Year-Old Man Charged with Theft of $500K from Employer

A 28-year-old New York man has been charged with stealing nearly $500,000 from his Ocean Township-based employer, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Tuesday.

Joseph Hardoon, of Valley Stream, NY, has been charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking in connection with the incident.

The case background …

An investigation by the MCPO Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit was initiated by a referral from Hardoon’s former employer, after it was discovered that funds were missing while was serving as the company’s bookkeeper. The investigation discovered that between 2021 and 2024 Hardoon allegedly stole $497,500 from the company.

On Monday Aug. 11, Harden was charged and released on a summons, pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.

The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Costanzo of the Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit. Hardoon is being represented by William Cunningham, Esq., with an office in Toms River.
