In Memoriam: Red Bank Native, RBC ’56 Grad, Assistant to Rumson Dentist, Nancy Hickey, 87

Red Bank native, Red Bank Catholic High School graduate and former dental assistant to Rumson’s Dr. Louis Mellaci, Nancy Hickey, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16. She was 87.

“Born and raised in Red Bank, Nancy was one of three children. Nancy was a proud graduate of the Red Bank Catholic (RBC) Class of 1956. She went on to work as a dental assistant for Dr. Louis Mellaci in Rumson.

“Above all else, Nancy was devoted to her family and her faith. She cherished spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren, and she prayed the rosary daily.”

Nancy is pre-deceased by: her sister, Barbara Moffett; and her brother, Frank Wise.

She is survived by: her beloved husband of 56 years, Gerald Hickey; her loving daughter, Jennifer McHale and husband, David, of Middletown; her cherished grandchildren, William and Tara McHale; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, May 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at St. James RC Church in Red Bank, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
