The polls are closed and the unofficial results are in. The Republican candidates for Fair Haven Borough Council swept the race, leaving the party balance on the dais, that has shifted significantly in the past couple of years, the same.
There will still be four Democrats and two Republicans in the governing body, according to the unofficial results. Incumbent Betsy Koch and newcomer Tracy Cole won with Koch garnering the most votes, or 1,501, 29.4 percent, and Cole winning 1,468, 28.7 percent, of the total 5,108 votes cast in the borough, according to the Monmouth County Board of Elections.
Newcomer Democrat challenger Bob Gasperini took the next highest vote count with 1,096. And his running mate, Sonja Trombino won 1,36 votes, 21.5 and 20.3 percent, respectively.
The unofficial vote tally does not include provisional ballots, late mail-in ballots and election night mail-in ballots.
