Police Report: Theft, Fraud, DWI, $4,200 Shoplifting, Theft By Deception

The following recent criminal incidents and arrests were reported by Shrewsbury police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.

Criminal Incidents

• There was a report of theft by deception in the area of Patterson Avenue on Sept. 12. The victim reported that someone gained access to their account to make fraudulent purchases.

• There was a report of theft in the area of Obre Place on Sept. 9. The victim reported that $3,159.99 worth of property was stolen.

• There was a report of credit card fraud in the area of Garden Road on Aug. 25. The victim reported that $400 worth of services were paid for and never rendered.

Patrolman Mary Ellen Rumola is investigating.

• There was a report of an attempted burglary in the area of Silverbrook Road on Aug. 22. The victim reported that someone used force to enter the home, but nothing was taken.

• There was a report of a $111 theft in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Aug. 22.

• There was a report of a shoplifting in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Aug. 22.

• There was a report of a shoplifting of $4,200 worth of merchandise in the area of Broad Street on Aug. 22.

Patrolman Angel Marrero is investigating.

• There was a report of theft by deception in the area of Dartmouth Way on Aug. 17. The victim reported that someone posed as a federal agent to solicit $1,600 in funds.

• There was a report of a $4,210 theft by deception in the area of Brady Road on Aug. 17. The victim reported that someone posed as a bank representative to obtain account information.

Arrests

• Nina M. Ferrante, 35, of Eatontown, was arrested in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Sept. 11 and charged with shoplifting by Patrolman Joseph Barnicle.

• Daniel J. Smith, 30, of Eatontown, was arrested in the area of Broad Street on Sept. 9 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) by Patrolman Angel Marrero.

• Towanda C. King, 49, of Eatontown, was arrested in the area of Shrewsbury Avenue on Aug. 28 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Patrolman Mary Ellen Rumola.

• Christopher E. Scherzer, 26, of Neptune, was arrested in the area of Sycamore Avenue on Aug. 17 and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) by Patrolman Daniel DeCristofaro.
