Yes, it’s Fourth of July weekend. And, no, there will not be any fireworks displays in Rumson or Red Bank. It’s been that way for a few years now.
But, there are places to go to safely view the holiday light and kaboom show in the sky in the area.
Here’s where fireworks can be seen …
• Tonight, Friday, or, if it rains, on Saturday, in Aberdeen, there will be fireworks in the township’s Firemen’s Field starting at 8:30 p.m.
• On Sunday, July 3, with a July 10 rain date, there will be a celebration culminating in fireworks in Freehold at Freehold Raceway, 3190 Route 9. With the music event, featuring local radio stations and live music, the event begins at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks start at 9 p.m.
On Monday, July 4 …
• Oceanfest is in full swing in Long Branch on the boardwalk from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. from the ocean.
• West Long Branch’s fireworks are at the usual place … Franklin Lake. They start at dusk and are preceded by a performance by Jersey Jukebox at 7 p.m.
• Asbury Park will have its fireworks display on the beachfront at 9 p.m.
• Hazlet will host it’s fireworks show at Veterans Memorial Park at dusk.
• Keansburg will have a fireworks display that can be seen from the fishing pier, 275 Beachwear Ave. at dusk.
• OR, you can catch a Seastreak ferry from Highlands at Connor’s Marina, off Bay Avenue, at 6:30 p.m. The ferry transports people to New York Harbor for a close-up view of the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks. Make reservations by contacting Seastreak.
Have a fun, safe holiday, all!
