There’s a new police officer on the beat in Rumson.
Patrolman Joseph Strohmenger was appointed to join the force of 17 officers and six special law enforcement officers (SLEOs) effective May 1.
Considering the COVID-19 pandemic stay-at-home order, there was no public swearing in for Strohmenger. So, the department, on behalf of Chief Scott Paterson, took to social media to introduce the new patrolman.
A graduate of the Monmouth County Police Academy, Strohmenger is a worked for both the Rumson and Bradley Beach police departments as a Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II and dispatcher prior to his appointment as patrolman in Rumson, the department’s Facebook post said.
As a Howell High School student, Strohmenger was a police explorer in Howell and a graduate of the Academy of Law and Public Safety, it added.
The department welcomed Strohmenger to Rumson.
