RFH Students Aspire to Change Lives in Uganda

The Home Run Derby is fun for participants and spectators alike, and this year’s event raised over $2,000 for Change A Life Uganda.

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) students are changing lives in Uganda.

The third annual Home Run Derby to benefit Change A Life Uganda was held at the high school on April 28.
Organized by the RFH Global Womens Empowerment Club and the RFH baseball and softball teams, the Home Run Derby is popular with students and the community.
Dave Thelan, a founder of Change A Life Uganda, was present at this year’s event to educate attendees about the organization.
More than $2,000 was raised to benefit Patricia and Flavia, two girls in Uganda whose education is being sponsored by RFH Global Womens Empowerment. The funds will pay for the girls’ tuition, room, board, and maintenance of their schools.
Forty students and community members competed in the Derby, and trophies were distributed to the top three scorers in each age division.
“We would especially like to thank Booskerdoo, Mr. Pizza Slice, Cups and Cakes, and the RFH parents for their generous donations to the event,” said Global Womens Empowerment Co-Advisor Hilary Strauch. “Congratulations and thanks to all the participants. We are already looking forward to next year’s Home Run Derby.”
