Prosecutor: Man Arrested for Discarding Dead Body

Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the discovery of a dead body in Wall Township, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said on Wednesday.

Edward Ramirez, 51, of Brick, was arrested and charged with disturbing human remains in connection with the discovery of the body of Jamie Leis, 35. Leis was found dead in the area of Brighton Avenue and Rockefeller Drive in Wall Township on May 17.

Wall Township Police Department responded to an initial call at 10:29 a.m. reporting the discovery of a body wrapped in a tarp and called for assistance from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

There were no visible injuries to Leis. Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
