Prosecutor: 27-Year-Old Indicted in 2020 Shots Fired Incident

A 27-year-old man has been indicted in connection with a 2020 shots fired incident, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced on Friday.

Joseph M. Galli, of Whiting, was indicted on one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon. Galli was previously arrested at the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office on July 15, 2020 after originally being located at his job in Burlington County.

If convicted of any of the firearms offenses, Galli faces a sentence of 10 to 20 years in a New Jersey state prison, subject to a mandatory five years of parole ineligibility.

The case background …

At 3:37 a.m. on April 7, 2020, Marlboro police responded to a report of shots fired in the in the area of Dutch Lane near Moore Road. There were no reported injuries. 

A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and Marlboro Police Department revealed that on the morning of April 7, a weapon was fired multiple times from a vehicle, leaving projectiles in a residence and vehicle located at 59 Dutch Lane Road. Subsequent investigation led to the identification of the discharged weapon belonging to Galli, although Galli had no connection to the residents of that home.
