In Memoriam: RBC Grad, Performer, Artist, Producer, Ian Oliver, 31

Ian Alistair Oliver passed away on Dec. 15 in Burlington, Vermont from diabetic shock, his loving mother and step-father by his side. He was 31.

“Ian had a warm heart, beautiful smile, kind soul and was a compassionate friend to many, especially his sister Catherine (Cat). He will be greatly missed. He was a lifelong performer, producer, actor, artist, dancer and singer … He performed in countless plays and musicals. After college, Ian pursued his passion and moved to Chicago where he performed and produced music for 7 years.”

Born on April 30, 1990 in Sleepy Hollow, NY to Ouida & Scott Oliver, Ian grew up in Middletown and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School (RBC) in 2008. Upon graduation from RBC, Ian studied at the University of Vermont and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also received the distinguished Renaissance Award at graduation from the Performing Arts Department. 

Ian was an avid lacrosse and baseball player, president of RBC Ski Club, and member of the Performing Arts Club.

Ian is survived by: his mother, Ouida Oliver, and step-father, Christopher Stonem of Middletown; his father, Scott Oliver, of Guatemala; his sister, Catherine Oliver (Cat), of Denver, CO; his devoted chocolate lab, Duchess St. Lawrence; and aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.

Ian was predeceased by: his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Roger Tharpe, of Central Square, NY; and paternal grandparents, Ronald and Marion Oliver, of London.

Viewing and visitation for Ian will be held on Sunday, Dec. 26, from 3 to 6 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. aA funeral mass will follow on Monday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. at Mary Mother of God in the New Monmouth section of Middletown.
