“Alix Ann was (also) an impassioned supporter and volunteer for the Healey International Relief Foundation, devoted to individuals and families in war torn Sierra Leone, West Africa. She was often seen at the Rumson collection site and on Green days collecting books, used toys and needed items for St. Stephen’s Home for Amputees, St. Mary’s Children’s Home and Serabu Hospital. She humorously referred to herself as a ‘professional beggar’ encouraging families downsizing to donate to Sierra Leone.
In 2020, she received a Letter of Commendation from the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Government of Sierra Leone for her work as well as from CARITAS, the international Catholic Relief organization’s Freetown, Sierra Leone headquarters.
She described her biggest blessing being that one can give as much as you want to for as long as you want.”
