The R-FH Area Weekend: RFH ‘Young Frankenstein,’ ‘Godspell’ & a Wedding Walk

 

This weekend in the Rumson-Fair Haven area is all about theater and brides.

Friday

For tonight, Friday, take note that Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Tower Players’ production of Young Frankenstein has been postponed to Sunday night at 7 p.m.

• Curtain time for the Monmouth Players’ production of Godspell is 8:15 p.m.

The show is at the group’s theater, dubbed Navesink Arts Center, the former Navesink Library at the corner of Sears and Navesink avenues in the Navesink section of Middletown. Admission is $25 and includes homemade desserts.

Saturday

• Curtain time for Young Frankenstein at RFH is 7:30 p.m. at the high school’s auditorium on Ridge Road in Rumson.

Sunday

• There is a matinee of the RFH Tower Players’ Young Frankenstein at 1 p.m. and a final showing at 7 p.m., which makes up for the postponed Friday night show.

• The matinee for Monmouth Players’ Godspell is slated for 2 p.m.

• And, next door in Red Bank, RiverCenter is hosting its annual Red Bank Wedding Walk from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All 40 wedding-related businesses in town have open houses, give-aways, snacks, prize raffles and a finale champagne reception for brides-to-be, grooms, partners and their families and friends.

From formalwear to favors, every aspect of the wedding day can be expertly planned with the help of Red Bank’s resident florists, gown and accessories retailers, bridesmaid and guest attire boutiques, photographers, wedding planners and designers, jewelers, bakeries, salons and banquet facilities.

Most participating locations will be offering promotions, light refreshments and special amenities.

This year’s participating businesses include many old favorites as well as exciting new additions such as The Robinson Ale House and Pinot’s Palette in the wedding and pre-wedding celebration venue category.

ThrillHer Diamonds and Goldtinker expand the jewelry offering and the personal services category has added three new salons: L Studio, Wisteria Beauty Lounge and Yanni Erbeli Salon.

The atmosphere will be further charged by the presence of our newest sponsor, 94.3 The Point as DJ (and bride-to-be) Laurie Cataldo broadcasts live from the Red Bank Wedding Walk.

The day begins with a 10 a.m. registration/check-in and continental breakfast at the Oyster Point Hotel, a waterfront wedding venue at 146 Bodman Place.

From there, the bridal parties will set off to explore the more than participating business armed with a Wedding Walk map/passport and tote bag to hold all the giveaways and information they will receive along the route.

The walk is self-guided, but guests will be offered assistance  throughout the day. Wedding walkers can get around town via free shuttle, limo and trolley service courtesy of Arrow Limousine and Great American Trolley.

Models from the Barbizon School will be stationed strategically along the route. There will be signage on businesses and on the sidewalks.

The Wedding Walk concludes with a champagne reception at the historic Molly Pitcher Inn, 88 Riverside Drive, where attendees can interact with the event sponsors and enjoy the views from a tent on the Molly Pitcher’s promenade, overlooking the Navesink River.

There will be music, food, and drink. At 4:15 p.m., the grand prize drawings take place and guests can enter to win a wide array of fun door prizes as well.

To be eligible for the grand prize drawing at the end of the day, guests must visit at least 14 businesses during the Wedding Walk.

Prizes include: a honeymoon stay in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) from Majestic Resorts and Liberty Travel, a diamond wedding band from A. H. Fisher jewelers, a romantic getaway package at the Molly Pitcher/Oyster Point, a bridal gown and accessories from Sassy Chic Boutique, a full DJ entertainment package including lighting and a photo booth from Sounds To Go, a Bridal Spa package from the Spa at the Galleria, diamond flower earrings from Goldtinker Jewelers, a bachelorette party for 20 at Pinot’s Palette and many more prizes.

The Wedding Walk will conclude at 5 p.m..
