Focus: Gulls’ Paradise on the Rumson Riverfront

The days have been dank on the banks of the Navesink River.

Yet, sea gulls seem to always seem to settle into a bit of hovering and hanging out at Victory Park in Rumson.

Year after year, damp days or not, they always come back home, lie many this time of year.

It’s another familiar scene down by the river. You’ve seen it before. Take a look again … It never gets old.

Focus: Barnacle’s and the Gulls

“Such a picture perfect spot, isn’t it?” a woman going to dinner at Barnacle Bill’s said Wednesday as dusk hit the banks of the Navesink River in Rumson. “Beautiful.”

She smiled, nodded and added, “We’re so lucky to have this …”

Yes, we are. The gulls flocked to the dock and little swath of beach at the spot. They seemed to be having a meeting.

All present. All savoring home.

Sea Bright: The Gulls on the Beach

The weather has been so season-appropriate that it almost looks like the seagulls have been dancing on the beach.

OK, maybe not dancing, but they’re seemingly sunning and hopping along — happily. OK, maybe they just see something good to eat and are anticipating a good grab and gobble.

Whatever the case may be, the gulls on the beach in Sea Bright are hanging out pretty close to humans.

Take a look at this human’s eye view.
