Well, the soggy state of the area lately has been drying up and making way for some falling for fall activity — or not falling. In the last Retro Pic of the Day, we offered a glimpse back into RFH skateboarders doing some impressive balancing acts on the boards on an area street. Yes, it was Sycamore.

Turns out it was a weekly (or more) occurrence at the hands and boards of a few RFH pals.

Focus: RFH Alum Reunited

The snow came on Saturday and some diehard traditionalists and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) alumni and friends went … to the annual New Year gathering at the Grady home.

Despite the weather, a few trudged not quite uphill, but at least from their cars down the street, in the snow, to what has become the annual gala at which all good RFHers congregate.

And though there were quite a bit fewer RFH alum partygoers this year, no enthusiasm was buried. Get the drift?

Thanks to Mike and Kathleen Grady for hosting this annual mini RFH reunion for each new year!

Take a look …

Recognize of these 1970s and early 80s RFHers?

So, Halloween is over. But, some of the antics of RFH students of the past remain etched in our memories.

The Retro Pic of the (George) Day honors one of those kooky ghoulish guys.

We have no idea why this photo was taken or what he was up to here. And when we asked featured RFH alum Mike Grady those questions, he just shook his head.

“Goofing around,” was the basic response.

So, there you have it.

Here’s to goofing around at RFH in the late 1970s!

Nice grin for a guy playing dead, Grady! Breaking character is not allowed! Know who’s the one tending to this freak?

Thanks, once again, to George Day for this fabulous look back at RFH!

Retro RFH Ride to Nowhere

Yes, it may be summer joy ride time somewhere.

Yet, these RFH old timers found their own bit of joy on a Halloween ride of a GI kind and made the most of it circa 1977.

So, in honor of our never easily forgotten classmates — just because they always strove to do memorable things like this — and a good little ride into the past, this is our Retro Pic of the (George) Day.

Security? Hitchin’ a ride, anyone?

Cheers to the guys in this pic! Know who they are?

Send us your past joy ride pics at [email protected].

Oh, and thanks, once again, to the fabulous George Day for this great shot of the past!

A New Year Gathering of RFH Grads

By Elaine Van Develde

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) grads and friends gathered once again on Saturday for the annual Grady party.

The Gradys, Mike and Kathleen, both RFH grads from Rumson and Fair Haven, respectively, have been hosting the annual reunion-like event for many years now. In addition to the touching base with the extended Grady family itself, it’s pretty much an annual guarantee that this is the place and time to catch up with RFH alumni, their spouses and friends.

Rumson-Fair Haven Retrospect caught up with RFH friends there, some dating back to kindergarten.

Take a look at the gallery above. Just click on any photo and scroll. Know anyone?

And many thanks to the Gradys for their generosity and a fabulously festive evening!

RFH Grads Gather for Beer Tasting

Call it an impromptu Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) reunion of sorts — a beer tasting peppered with fun and critiques, sort of.

A small group of the RFH grads and friends gathered on Saturday at the Nip N Tuck in Long Branch to taste beer and catch up.

A good time was had by all. The tasting was organized by RFH alum Mike Grady, president of Grady Loss Consulting in Fair Haven.

He has a double IPA creation of his own on the table.

Take a look at our photo gallery for a glimpse into the evening. Recognize anyone?

Hmmmm … See Tom Kelly, Greg Holland, Doug DiStefano, Bill Rannertshauser?
