A reprise in honor of the Sea Bright icon known as Dizzy Dave on his 70th birthday … There’s a birthday fundraiser going on for Dizzy Dave with a goal set for $4,000 to help him out. So far, $1,175 has been raised. Click here to contribute to making Dave’s 70th monumental. “Dave turns 70 on July 5th and it would be really nice for him to feel the love of all the people who know him in our wonderful town that takes care of its own,” said David Van Vliet, the organizer.

Nothing says local and summer quite like a glimpse into the past of a Sea Bright icon in his local beach element, albeit a likely polar bear plunge scenario here.

Scene Around: Beached for Locals’ Summer

Starting a locals’ summer weekend with the sun and a beach stroll was the way a couple of Rumson-Fair Haven area folks and four-legged friends got their jump start on Friday.

It’s the only way for locals when the sun, sand and surf beckon for a big shoreline hug. They walk, even romp with it — the rejuvenating solace of it all.

Fair Haven Councilwoman Susan Sorensen and Rumsonite Sue Hill Spakowski (and friends) were there in Sea Bright and Monmouth Beach to capture the moments and relish the start to, by all fair weather accounts, the perfect locals summer weekend. Sorensen caught the sunrise in Sea Bright and Spakowski’s best buddies (her dogs) caught the best of times “digging” the beach at Little Monmouth.

From the National Weather Service …

Skies will be clear and sunny with temperatures in the high 70s during the day and high 60s in the evenings all weekend.

Thanks to Sue and Susan for sharing the start of their day and a little beach motivation with all!

Focus: Reprise of a Rumson Locals’ Summer Down by the River

Rumor, or a National Weather Service report, has it that the sun will come out tomorrow. And we’re not talking about the old musical Annie. It’s locals’ summer weather wish come true from a good source and the telltale sign of rainbows sightings at dusk.

Focus: A Locals’ Summer for the Birds

It’s that time of the year when the beaches are pretty barren. It’s locals’ summer. Perfect time for serenity and little waterfront trek.

That’s how it was recently on Sea Bright Public Beach — a stroll in solitude accompanied only by the birds, the sea, freshly combed sand and solace.

Walk along and take in the view. It’s not just for the birds, really. (And don’t forget to click to enlarge!)
