Simple Summer: A 40th RFH Reunion

It doesn’t get much more simple, sublime than reuniting with high school classmates 40 years after graduation. And it doesn’t get much more scary than realizing that 40 years have passed — or not.

By the looks and sound of things, it was all that and more when the RFH Class of 1977 got together for a marathon reunion weekend, because, as ol’ 70s KC and the Sunshine Band hit goes, “that’s the way, uh, huh, uh, huh, they like it …” Uh, huh.

There were no signs of disco balls in the decor — not that we know of. Word has it there was a lot of song. The number one hit for the same week as the reunion in the summer of ’77 was Best of My Love, by The Emotions.

Photos, taken by Meg Praskac O’Brien, have been making the Facebook rounds and there seemed to be no shortage of smiles and good times with this bunch.

They started off last week at Sandy Hook the first night then went on to Salt Creek Grille, Murphy’s, Monmouth Park Race Track and Barnacles in the course of the weekend. Hey, they’re RFHers. They did  it all … and with the gusto of 18-year-olds … and maybe a few naps.

Give the group shot at Sandy Hook a gander. There are some familiar RFHers still in the area. One, in fact, heads a well-known environmental organization. Another has a son who recently graduated from RFH and is now serving in the military. And, the list and RFH beat goes on …

Simply great reunion times. Congrats on your 40th, Class of ’77!
