Prosecutor: Unidentified Accident Victim in Critical Condition

An unidentified male is in critical condition as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle along Main Street in Belmar Sunday evening, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said on Monday.

The pedestrian was crossing Main Street at 15th Avenue at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Sunday evening when he was struck by a 2002 Mercedes Benz 320 wagon, driven by Brian H. Getcliffe of Point Pleasant. Getcliffe was the only person in the vehicle and was uninjured.

The injured male was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township, where he is currently in critical condition. Police remain in the process of identifying this injured pedestrian.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Belmar Police Department.
