,A 29-year-old Neptune Township man has been arrested and charged for his alleged role in a May attempted murder in Asbury Park, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.
The man, Ryan Taylor, was charged with: first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second- degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree certain person not to possess a weapon, second-degree armed burglary, and third- degree hindering apprehension.
If convicted of the attempted murder charge, Taylor faces up to 20 years in a New Jersey state prison subject to the provisions of the No Early Release Act (NERA), requiring him to serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed before becoming eligible for release on parole. He would also be under parole supervision for five years following his release from state prison.
If convicted of the other charges, Taylor faces a sentence of five to ten years in state prison on each charge. If convicted of the hindering apprehension, Taylor faces a sentence of three to five years in prison.

Asbury Park police responded to a report of shots fired on May 15 at 10:33 p.m. in the area of the Asbury Park Village housing complex on Atkins Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township where he was treated and later released.
A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police Department revealed that the victim was standing in the courtyard of the apartment complex when two men approached the group of people, including the victim, and began shooting. Taylor was later identified as one of the shooters. The second shooter has not been identified.
Authorities are seeking help in finding the other shooter.
