Prosecutor: Former Health Club Bookkeeper Gets 3 Years for Embezzling

A former bookkeeper of The Atlantic Club has been sentenced to three years in prison for pilfering a substantial amount of money from the business for a five-year period, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.

Jennifer Ambrosino, 42, of Point Pleasant, pleaded guilty to second degree Theft by Unlawful Taking on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.In addition to the three-year prison sentence, Ambrosino was ordered to pay $100,000 in restitution.

Ambrosino was charged following a joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Wall Township Police Department, and the NJ Department of Treasury’s Office of Criminal Investigation.

The investigation determined that Ambrosino embezzled, between January of 2012 and June of 2017, more than $223,000 from the health club for her personal use. Ambrosino concealed the theft by altering bank statements, initiating fraudulent wire transfers, and submitting erroneous reconciliation documents, according to authorities’ findings.
