Prosecutor: 20-Year-Old Charged with Teen’s Saturday Murder

A 20-year-old Long Branch man is facing murder charges in connection with a fatal stabbing incident in the city on Saturday evening, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.

Bryan Cordero-Castro, of 4th Avenue in Long Branch, has been charged with: first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree attempted escape related to the death of a 16-year-old Long Branch girl. He remains in custody.

The incident occurred in the 200 block of Van Pelt Place in Long Branch. The victim and her assailant were known to one another. There is no threat to public safety.

Long Branch police responded to an 10:42 p.m. call reporting a stabbing at 284 Van Pelt Place, Long Branch. The juvenile victim was taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch where she died at 11:25 p.m.
