In Memoriam: Fair Havenite Lynn Brager Phelan

Longtime Fair Havenite Lynn Brager Phelan passed away after a short illness on Jan. 30.

Born in Newark, Lynn had lived in Fair Haven since 1978. Before settling there with their family, Lynn and her husband Barry, who were married for 60 years, raised their three children elsewhere in New Jersey and Ohio.

Lynn was a 1958 graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood. There she met her lifelong friends, Ginger, Kay, Jane, Rosemary, Judy, Nadia, Mickey and Diane.

After raising her three children, Lynn became an HR specialist at AT&T Bell Labs and was very successful receiving several promotions. She retired after 18 years in 1999.

Lynn was pre-deceased by: her Norwegian parents, Leif and Jenny Brager; and beloved sister, Berit.

She is survived by: her husband, Barry; her daughters, Suzanne Caruso and husband Joe, and Patti Scanlon and husband Steve; her son, J. Greg Phelan and wife Kristina and her daughter; adored grandchildren, Jamie, Jenny, Jake, Madison, John and Andrew; and great grandchildren, Mason and Charlotte.

A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven.
