Focus: A View from the Barnacle’s Perspective

On a clear day … nothing will astound you quite like a front row seat to a river view and a burger from Barnacle Bill’s in Rumson.

It’s always been a life mainstay in the Rumson-Fair Haven area. And during pandemic times, the experience is all the more soaked up, as the distanced, close-up riverfront seat calls your name.

While heaters are set outside Barnacle’s to take the chill out of a warm view through fall, the locals’ summer respite continues. Though, this may be a final 70s day. So, take a look and soak it all up and exhale … (Click on any image to enlarge and scroll. Enjoy!)

According to the National Weather Service, rain is coming tomorrow, a 70 percent chance, and it won’t be clearing up until Friday when temperatures are expected to dip down to a high of 58 degrees and 52 on Saturday. There’s a bit of vacillation, though, with temperatures climbing back up to 60 degrees on Monday. Check out the full forecast, and keep tabs on any changes, by clicking here.

And speaking of restaurants, noting a spike in COVID-19 cases in the Garden State, NJ Gov. Phil Murphy has ordered, effective at 5 a.m. on Thursday, that any indoor restaurant, bar, club and/or lounge offering indoor reduced capacity dining and drink must close indoor operations by 10 p.m. every day.

There is also to be NO seating at any bar, but tables closer together with partitions and safety guidelines adhered to are permitted. Outdoor dining and takeout and delivery services “may continue past 10,” the state website says. The governor has also called for and end as of Nov. 12 to interstate and indoor (K-12) youth sports to get a handle on the spike.

As of today, there were 260,430 total cases of COVID-19 in the state with 14,661 confirmed deaths.

In Monmouth County, officials have reported that there are 192 new cases of COVID in the county and no new deaths today. Locally, as of Nov. 10, there are currently 78 who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Fair Haven, up two from 76 yesterday. In Rumson, there are currently 116 cases, up two from 114 as of yesterday. Sea Bright has 28. Little Silver has 98 cases, up three from 95 reported yesterday. And in Red Bank, there are now 452 who have tested positive.
