Looking Back at Fair Haven Students’ Honors for 2014-15

 

Students in the Fair Haven School District achieved several distinctions in the 2014-15 school year; and, they were recognized for all by the Board of Education.

The accomplishments were all outlined in an early June ceremony by Superintendent Nelson Ribon and Knollwood School Principal Kevin Davis with a little pizza party on the side.

 

Here’s what was recognized …

 

The Knollwood School Girls Softball Team defeated Tinton Falls 6-2 to claim the SISBL Championship;

• George Clough, Patrick Malpass and Charles Newbury, of Fair Haven, achieved the first place finish in the Southern Region of New Jersey Spring Stock Market Game;

The Knollwood School Band, Orchestra and Glee Club were honored and thanked by the board for a year of amazing performances;

The Knollwood Softball Team clinched both division and league championship titles.

 

Knollwood Softball Team members included: eighth graders Alina Arko, Sarah Finley, Jeanne Gagliano, Jackie Hanson, Erin McKay, Amanda Merton, Jamie O’Donnell, Maggie Ryan, and Gillian Thorp; seventh graders Jane Banahan, Kirsten Felsman, Chloe Freglette, Kate Halcrow (manager), Katherine Harby, and Ceci Newman; and sixth graders Cece Arko and Devon Reid.

• Also lauded were fifth-graders George Clough, Patrick Malpass, and Charles Newbury — members of the Knollwood School Stock Market Club — who competed against more than 100 other teams in the Southern Region of New Jersey Spring Stock Market Game. With a virtual $100,000 to invest, they made a profit of $6,977.56.

• Knollwood music teachers Melanie Chayette, Sara Marino and Vince Mottern commemorated the growth and hard work of students in orchestra, band, and glee club.

Fair Haven Board of Education members are: Michael Bernstein, Claudia Brasch, Bennett Coleman, Jennifer Halcrow, Mark Mancuso, Bruce Padula, Karen Saad, Jeff Spector and Randi Walker.
